Week 20 - Not Many Left for the Season!
This night started off with only 12 at the tables, 6-handed to start. The Guajardo's got off to an early start and went out 1st and 2nd, Eliseo and then Starr. Eliseo went out just before the first break, just in time for the arrival of Mr. Evans. Almost didn't make the chip up! It was a quiet night not a creature was stirring, except Chris who was hitting many hands and accumulating large amounts of chips. They gravitated his way all night!
The Hand of the Night - Was a big FLOP!
Judd went all-in with around 3000 in chips and Nestor called him. Judd turned over pocket 4's and Nestor turned over an A-9. The flop came, now read carefully, burn, door card (9), burn, turn (9), burn, and turn (4). Three cards show on the board. Blanchard caught the extra turns and the controversy ensued. It was remedied by all the cards being reshuffled, of course Judd was not happy about that and rightly so after the next flop with an Ace on the board and nothing to help Judd. Judd was eliminated! Is this the excitement you were looking for in this blog, Judd?
After much debate and way after the fact, it was determined that:
the first burn was good, then the first 9 was good. The next burn should have been face up, this card was unknown as it was thrown in the muck. The second 9 was good, this would have been the third card on the flop. The third burn was good and the 4 would have been the turn card, leaving another burn and river to come. So, we had two unknowns, the second card and the river card. Maybe Judd would have won, but another A or 9 would have brought about the same result.
I suggest that in the future in, that we determine a way to burn cards, so they do not go into the muck. Perhaps like in Europe, where the cards get laid down one on top of the other, each burn being turned 90 degrees to the other in a pile specifically for the burn cards. The muck should be separate and pushed away from the dealing of the cards. This would eliminate any guessing of what happened and the event could be recreated without penalty to any of the participants. Expecially if an all in is at stake.
Well, as stated before, the chips all gravitated to Chris and Nestor survived many all in's. He was literally "walking dead". But he was able to get heads up with Chris, which ended within two hands, because Chris had about 95% of all the chips. A couple of all in's and it was over.
Saying for the Night
Bend over Judd, you just took one in the A$$!
