Results and Synopsis of Last We Met - Ryan and Becky's Place

By the number of vehicles and the lack of walking room in Ryan and Becky's home it was clear that it was a night for poker, 25 players showed up.  As we have grown used two tables and the dwindling numbers it was nice to see all the familiar faces who have become unfamiliar and the unfamiliar faces who are becoming more familiar.  However, it was not a night for the what refer to as the newbies.

Good time for a few newbie hints, I encourage anyone to add your own, but don't be mean as we do not want to 'tap the glass' as Jack would say:

We know you're a newbie when you knock at the door or ring the door bell instead of just walking in.

We know you're a newbie when you keep asking what the blinds are at or don't put them out.

We know you're a newbie when you seriously over bet the pot.

We know you're a newbie when you play out of turn.

We know you're a newbie by the way you shuffle the cards and deal.

But, in all seriousness we encourage any and all to come play.  As we like large crowds and enjoy the new faces and company.  We play to have fun and we love the game.  In truth, usually a true newbie will take it down, so we are not as good as we think we are.

Three tables, one in the garage, and all the craziness but the cards did fly!  Those of us in the garage could hear all the commotion from the inside, mostly Ryan and Chochol.  In the garage, Anthony started collecting the chips early.  He was hitting hands left and right.  But, as we chipped up it was Tony D. and Eliseo who were accumulating the healthy stacks in no mans' land.

The only hand we got wind of, in the unforgotten land of the garage, was K-Fed's hand (aka Blanchard) in which he flopped quads versus Chris and Louis.  Apparently, Louis was betting into K-Fed and K-Fed was licking his chops.  Chris got busted out with a full-boat.  Not sure what happen to Louis, but I'm sure he felt the burn.

After chip up Eliseo knocked out two with pocket Ten's that turned into quads on the turn and river.  Then, it was time for table-up, two tables of 8 and 8.  A lot of action and chips, 137,500 in all being pushed around among 16 players.  Eliseo flopped a straight, A-4, flopped 2-3-5 and moved all-in, two other folded, but Baker called.  Baker left us, time to get a new charm. How about a four-leaf clover, that one you can tape to your shirt, no insertion required.  And if you decide to insert it, it wouldn't hurt as much.  As the numbers dwindled and the blinds climbed to 800 and 1600, three players limped in, with the action to the BB, Jack, he raised the minimum, all four players called, putting 12,800 in the pot.  Eliseo had 70,000 chips at this point.  Eliseo with first action checked, Jack shoved all-in, everyone else thought a bit and folded, but Eliseo had set the trap.  Eliseo had 7-6 unsuited and flopped two pair (4-7-6) and of course called.  Jack had outs to a straight with his J-8 offsuit, but the Poker God's did not smile upon him.  Two players limped in with the blinds at 1,000 and 2,000: Eliseo and Steve who battled all night.  The flop came it was Q-5-5.  Steve fired 4,000 and Eliseo called.  On the turn came a 7, Steve bet another 4,000 and Eliseo called.  On the river came an irrelevant card.  Steve bet 5,000 and Eliseo raised 10,000.  Steve called.  Eliseo showed the 5-7 to make a full-boat.  Quitely and unnoticed, Tony D. was accumulating chips at the table as well, stealing blinds and winning a few hands here and there.  Tony D. crippled Steve leaving him short stacked who was shortly knocked out.  Qtip grinded his way to fifth with the shortest stack most of the second and third levels.  Steve took fourth?  Evans took third.  Eliseo and Tony D. went heads up, but Tony D. had accumulated most of chips from everyone else by the time heads-up came around.  With uneventful and cautious play for a short while, it came down to one hand.  Eliseo limped from the SB and Tony D. called, the blinds were at 2,000 and 4,000 at this point.  The flop came and it was three hearts, 6-8-9.  Eliseo had the the 7 of hearts and bet the pot.  Tony D. flopped the flush with a Q-5 of hearts and of course called.  The turn came and Eliseo shoved all-in, it made a straight for him as it was the 5 of diamonds, but was praying for the straigh flush.  Tony D of course called.  Another diamond on the river and it was all over.
